Wear Test: Nike LunarEpic Low Flyknit White/Mango

Over the past few months I’ve averaged 4 miles per day/per run and I’m currently wearing Nike Roshe Run’s. The goal is to increase my distance to 10 miles per run over the next 90 days and I’ve realized I’ve been going through running shoes very quickly. I’m on my third pair in 3 months so I decided to try a different style to see if they will last longer.

I stopped into Nike and purchased the Lunar Epic Low Flyknit. The shoe retails for $160 and is customizable but I chose to go with the White/Bright Mango/Gamma Blue/Black colorway. it was the first pair that caught my eye and after testing them in the store I felt they would be up to the test.

I’ve worn them now on 5 separate runs with each distance varying from 3 miles to 7 miles. The shoe held up pretty well for the first 2 outings but started to unravel (literally) after my 3rd run which consisted of 6 miles, some of which was off road.

My overall rating of the shoe is an 8 out of 10. The shoe is very comfortable and they breathe very well but I don’t recommend it for long distance running or non-asphalt running.  The flynit technology looks great but doesn’t hold up against the non-traditional elements of the outdoors.

If you live in the city and run primarily on paved streets and/or in parks with manicured surfaces I highly recommend this shoe. But anything outside the city setting you’re setting yourself up for a shoe change.
