Everyone who knows me knows that I buy pretty much anything Kanye West makes, call me a Hypebeast, a f*ckboy, or whatever, I like what I like. A few weeks ago I bought the “I Feel Like Kobe” tee shirt because I liked the symbolism and it’s simultaneous salute to one of the NBA’s all time greats.
I ordered a large and waited a little over 2 weeks for my shirt to arrive. When it arrived I was a bit disappointed with the packaging, it was just put into a USPS bag wrapped in plastic. But hey, packaging isn’t everything right? I opened the USPS package, pulled out the plastic wrap and realized I just paid $80 for a Gildan long sleeve tee shirt. My fan-side said “Joe, try it on you might like it” so I did and my disappointment kept mounting. For starters the shirt isn’t a true large it’s more like a large’ish-extra-large and because of that the “I Feel Like Kobe” lettering was so low it fell somewhere around the left side of my bellybutton. Even with all this I still decided to try and make it work, so I put it in the wash to see if it would help shrink the shirt a little.
I took the shirt out of the dryer, put on my Yeezy Boost 750’s, some dope shorts from Barney’s and my Kanye West “I Feel Like Kobe” tee shirt and low-and-behold it SHRUNK! It’s now a smedium, the letters have faded, and the cotton feels like sandpaper on my skin. Before washing it it was so long it hung past my thighs, now when I lift my arms it looks like a belly shirt NFL players used to wear in the 80’s. FML!
So, what does this mean? Well, Kanye, I’m still a fan and will still shop with you BUT as a customer you (or your team) need to step up your material game. I’ve spent a little over $4,500 on your merchandise but if it keeps coming out like this I might have to start picking and choosing what I buy.
