SOLEXCHANGE respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users of thesolexchange.com (the “Site”) to do the same. This page explains how we handle copyright on the Site and the procedure for sending a notice of claimed infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA, 17 U.S.C. § 512). If you are a copyright holder and believe content on the Site infringes your work, follow the steps below.
Our own content
Original articles, photography, and graphics produced by the SOLEXCHANGE editorial team are owned by SOLEXCHANGE and protected by United States and international copyright law. You may quote short excerpts (typically one or two paragraphs) with a clear attribution and a link back to the source article. You may not republish entire articles, repost them as PDFs or aggregator feeds, or use them as training data for machine-learning models without our written permission. To request permission, write to editor@thesolexchange.com with the article URL, the use you intend, and the audience or distribution channel.
Brand logos and product imagery
Brand logos, product names, and product imagery referenced on the Site are the property of their respective owners. SOLEXCHANGE uses them under the doctrine of fair use for the purpose of news reporting, commentary, and criticism. We credit the original source where one is identifiable. If you are a rights holder and believe a specific use exceeds fair use, use the DMCA procedure below rather than sending a takedown via social media or a third-party platform; we cannot act on social media notices.
How to send a DMCA notice
To file a notice of claimed infringement, send a written communication to our designated agent that contains all of the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the rights holder or someone authorized to act on the rights holder’s behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed. If the claim covers multiple works, a representative list is acceptable.
- Identification of the material on the Site that you claim is infringing, including a URL specific enough that we can locate it.
- Your contact information: full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or are authorized to act on the rights holder’s behalf.
Notices that omit any of these elements are not actionable under the DMCA and will be returned to the sender with instructions.
Where to send notices
Send DMCA notices to our designated agent by email: dmca@thesolexchange.com. We act on valid notices within seven business days. If you would like a written acknowledgement, say so in the notice and we will send one within forty-eight hours of receipt.
Counter-notices and repeat infringers
If you believe content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notice that satisfies the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). We will forward valid counter-notices to the original complainant and, absent a court order to the contrary, may restore the content after ten business days. SOLEXCHANGE terminates the accounts of users found to be repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.
